Our family has amassed an outstanding cellar with the customer as the primary focus. Along with family friend, Master Sommelier Ira M. Harmon, the selection has been accomplished to complement our delicious menu as well as tempt the curiosity of most wine lovers. In honor of The Steamboat Wine Festival, we are sharing Ira’s experiences and professional love for vino as he shares how to blind taste wine.
Join us on Wednesday for a privately hosted wine tasting with Master Ira M. Harmon. Master Harmon developed a passion for wine at an early age and educated himself as he grew up in upstate New York. By the time he was 18, he had explored the world of German wines, tasted rosés from Portugal, Italy and France, including Dom Perignon Champagne. He became a Master Sommelier in March 1993, and three years later became director of fine wines for Western Wines, rising to the rank of vice president at that company.
The ongoing education of our qualified staff parallels the constant evolution of our cellar. Proper storage is always a major priority. Each bottle is racked in our underground facility where constant temperature and humidity are the essential ingredients for a healthy cellaring environment. The list itself is broken down categorically according to appellation, vintage, and winery. Selections from around the world include Italy, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, South America, the Pacific Northwest, and of course the ever popular California and France. We look forward to sharing the experience with you.
To be included in further wine tasting opportunities, please join the Harwig’s Wine Club for more upcoming events and recommendations.
