I’ve never had a job at the restaurant. My resume may include some embarrassing items, but decidedly not Harwigs. However, in 2009, I’d just graduated from Colorado College with a biology degree and was resolved to spend the year working to make it as an artist. I had a bunch of mechanical wooden sculptures on hand from a college project, and wanted to put together an exhibition of them somewhere in Steamboat. The guys at Harwigs graciously acquiesced to letting me fill the upstairs with all these strange gadgets and lights and paintings, and from the moment I stepped foot in the place, there was no turning back.

I can’t leave Harwigs. My artwork’s in there, as are my friends, family, and favorite culinary creations. I’m still “working” as an artist, thanks in no small part to the encouraging welcome the folks at the restaurant gave me in 2009.
